If I ever get the chance to adopt a child regardless of their age, they will know from the beginning they’ve been adopted. People agonize on this decision and for me I’m taking the Islamic perspective and be honest about the child’s origin and past as much as possible. Age appropriate discussion of course. InshaAllah I’m hoping I’ll be able to nurse them so they can become mahram to me and my kiddos if that’s not possible I still want to adopt them but observe hijab once they hit puberty. Allahu alem
My hubs insisted on a policy early on that I could not blog, tweet, facebook, update or whatever about our kids’ real names or share pics of them. I once posted a pic of the veggie box we had just received and my son’s little pinky toe was in the frame and DOWN it had to go.
At first it was hard because I was young and everyone was sharing and over sharing but over time I’m so thankful I listened. Knowing the restrictions about privacy with children in care I think its only natural we would continue the same policy with our future foster kids. inshaAllah.
I’m becoming more and more sure that fostering is the right choice for my family. InshaAllah
My next biz endevour will be starting an indoor child playground. Its days like today when its raining and cold so no hope of going outside. These kids have so much energy! Indoor playground it is. inshaAllah
